DAY 6 - COFFEE & ALCOHOL
INTRODUCTION
If you’ve read the intro you can just skip it…
I’m so glad you’re here and haven’t been turned off by Magic School Bus quotes or dad jokes.
This EP is a dream come true for me.
As a kid, I was very sheltered and rarely left the house. I don’t say this for pity, but I didn’t really have friends. So I had to make my own fun with creativity, drawing, art, video and music.
From the website, video blurbs and marketing, to lyric videos, branding, graphic design and even a lot of the recording and mixing, I’ve learned a lot of this by myself on the fly.
I’m a business student, so none of this was really learned from school. There are a lot of things I didn’t learn from school – including some incredibly important, universal life lessons.
As I’ve mentioned, I’m a bit of a nerd. I like learning – So I’ve elaborated on these stories in the “School of Nerd Rock” – You’ll get useful life lessons by email each day.

SONG
"THINKING HARD AND MESSING AROUND -
STUDYING TO BRING YOUR WELL BEING DOWN"
One day I met a few random strangers and partied with them till 4am. Another day I had some coffee, sat down at a piano in an empty room, and wrote this.
STORY
It was one of the rainiest days I had seen in my life – I got out of work early and took off south.
This song isn’t about putting Baileys in your coffee – though that is one of my favorite drinks.
Coffee & Alcohol is about life balance. I wrote it during a trip to Nashville. I had just gotten out of a relationship, so as one often does after a long relationship, I was floundering to rediscover purpose and making a lot of bad life choices.
Often, drinking and partying is a great way to distract yourself from the real world – and sometimes you need to.
On the other hand, coffee is usually a drink consumed in order to stay driven and productive – something that’s also necessary.
As I wrote this song, I was driving to visit my favorite vocal studio and get away from the familiar parts of life. It was a lonely trip – I slept in my car most nights.
One day I made a few random strangers and partied with them till 4am in Nashville. Another day I went to the vocal studio I came to visit, got a cup of coffee, and sat down to write this.
LYRICS
Friends with the benefit of losing what we had
Sleeping in my car and giving up on promises,
The year that we had is turning back on empty hands,
The life that I imagined and trusted is all but dead
Looking for a place to come home to,
At the end of my search for a status quo to,
Give a perfect dose of peace of mind as I lose
Everything that makes me sane to you,
Coffee and Alcohol
Running hard and taking it slow,
Taking shots and shooting shit,
Lately I’m so full of it,
But I’m not ready to move on,
Fingering through magazines,
Fingers slide between her knees,
Toying with your petty dreams,
Give me a shot of that restless, energy,
Thinking hard and messing around,
Studying to bring your well being down,
Blood boils and I calm down,
by watching my blood drown in every 16 ounces
Coffee and Alcohol
Running hard and taking it slow,
Taking shots and shooting shit,
Lately I’m so full of it,
But I’m not ready to move on,
Coffee and Alcohol
Running hard and taking it slow,
Taking shots and shooting shit,
Lately I’m so full of it,
But I’m not ready to move on,
No sleep,
Red eyes and a heart beat
No sleep
Red eyes and a pounding heart beat,
No sleep,
Red eyes and a heart beat
No sleep
Red eyes and a pounding heart beat
No sleep,
Red eyes and a heart beat
No sleep
Red eyes and a pounding heart beat
Coffee and Alcohol
Running hard and taking it slow,
Taking shots and shooting shit,
Lately I’m so full of it,
But I’m not ready to move on,
Coffee and Alcohol
Running hard and taking it slow,
Taking shots and shooting shit,
Lately I’m so full of it,
But I’m not ready to move on,
