DAY 2 - SPRING
INTRODUCTION
Skip this if you’ve already read it…
I’m so glad you’re here and haven’t been turned off by Magic School Bus quotes or dad jokes.
This EP is a dream come true for me.
As a kid, I was very sheltered and rarely left the house. I don’t say this for pity, but I didn’t really have friends. So I had to make my own fun with creativity, drawing, art, video and music.
From the website, video blurbs and marketing, to lyric videos, branding, graphic design and even a lot of the recording and mixing, I’ve learned a lot of this by myself on the fly.
I’m a business student, so none of this was really learned from school. There are a lot of things I didn’t learn from school – including some incredibly important, universal life lessons.
As I’ve mentioned, I’m a bit of a nerd. I like learning – So I’ve elaborated on these stories in the “School of Nerd Rock” – You’ll get useful life lessons by email each day.
WELCOME TO THE
SCHOOL OF NERD ROCK!
SONG
MUSIC VIDEO
"WHY WON'T YOU ENLIGHTEN US PLEASE?"
“How Does It Feel?” is a sort of sarcastic tune asking how it feels to make it - how it feels to get exactly what you want out of life and be happy as we understand happiness.
STORY
Spring was a song I wrote right as I was moving out of my parents house in the country, beginning college, and more or less actually engaging with the real world for the first time. – Sort of a Luke Skywalker story, but I never saved the galaxy and I never had a Tosche station near my house. I also had a 2003 Grand Prix, not a Corellian Freighter.
As I mentioned in the last message, I grew up very sheltered, so a lot of life was a new experience for me when I started business school and left “the nest.”
Spring was written as I realized that most of the few friends I had made in my high school era had mentally checked out and connected with different social groups. The limited connections I had were slowly becoming obsolete.
That was okay, but it was a realization that I had to work out in my head – and I did so slowly.
I sat in a coffee shop that day – I looked at a weed outside the window that had sprouted through a crack in the sidewalk. That weed become a sort of metaphor for most of life. Moments, people and things all change or go away just as fast as that guy outside can –
Step on it –
And
Kill it.
LYRICS
Honest searches,
blurry answers,
If there’s really someone with them all,
why won’t you enlighten us please?
draw a line in the sand,
or a sign in the sky,
but still, but still, would I be blind?
I see rain, falling down,
I see sun, on the ground,
I wanna touch it,
I wanna taste it,
but it’s gone,
it’s gone,
it’s gone,
it’s gone,
I see joy, spring up now
I see happiness, and I want it,
but the clouds came in,
and took all of it,
and it’s gone,
it’s gone,
it’s gone,
it’s gone,
Honest searches,
blurry answers,
If there’s really someone with them all,
why won’t he enlighten us please?
draw a line in the sand,
or a sign in the sky,
but still, but still, would I be blind?
It’s fading out, it’s fading out, it’s fading out,
It’s fading out, it’s fading out, it’s fading out,
It’s fading out, it’s fading out, it’s fading out,
It’s fading out.
It’s gone
It’s gone
It’s gone
It’s gone
